Cookie Notice

Last Updated: November 29, 2022

This Notice describes how The MITRE Corporation (“MITRE,” “we,” or “our”) uses cookies and tracking technologies on this website, www.mitre.org.au. Like many companies, MITRE uses “cookies,” which are small data files that can be sent to your web browser and stored on your computer. Cookies that MITRE sets are first-party cookies. Cookies that we allow others to set are called third-party cookies. MITRE uses cookies to distinguish you from other users of our website. Cookies and other tracking technologies, such as log information and tracking pixels, also help us to provide you with a personalized experience and enable us to improve website performance.

Cookie Settings

MITRE Uses the Following Types of Cookies on this Website

Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are required to provide content that allows the website to function. Specifically, the website server logs basic information about each visit. We process this information to identify visitors to our site, to authenticate site administrators, to set visitor preferences, to help complete forms, and for security purposes.

Targeting and Marketing Cookies

These non-essential cookies are used to personalize our website content and the advertisements you may see. We use these cookies to understand and measure the effectiveness of our marketing efforts. These cookies are disabled by default and require your permission before they are activated.

MITRE uses pixel tracking via social platform, LinkedIn®. Pixel tracking is a marketing pixel graphic (HTML code) used to track user behavior, site conversions, web traffic, and other web usage metrics. It allows personalization and retargeting of information, based on users’ web device types and interests. For example, if a user of this site clicks on a MITRE ATT&CK® article, they may later encounter ads or other marketing materials about the MITRE ATT&CK Framework when using their social media accounts. Data collected through pixel tracking include website visitors’ IP addresses, device information, browser characteristics, time-based data elements, and URLs visited.

MITRE also uses a digital advertising platform, Teads®, for effective targeting of digital ads, execution of ad campaigns, and satisfying other brand performance objectives. Pixel tags, used on our site through Teads, track and log web usage data, such as URL visited, browser information, device information, and user interactions with Teads ads, to help us effectively market our content and messaging.

Performance Cookies

These cookies allow us to analyze traffic on the site so that we can measure and improve website performance. Like targeting and marketing cookies, these cookies are disabled by default and require your permission before they are activated.

MITRE uses Google Analytics® to measure how users interact with website content. As users navigate between web pages, Google Analytics provides us data, such as applicable URLs, time of visit, time spent on each webpage, type of browser, and type of operating system. With this information, MITRE creates, designs, and updates content based on our user interests. In addition, Google Analytics collects indirectly identifiable information, such as users’ IP addresses, unique IDs, and client IDs. Users who do not want their indirectly identifiable information collected during their visit to our website may opt-out of the Google Analytics tracking service at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout/ or keep performance cookies disabled through our cookie settings.

Your Consent

We request your consent to use performance, targeting, and marketing cookies before placing them on your device. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. To enable or disable our use of performance, targeting, and marketing cookies, please use our cookie banner for cookie settings.

You also may be able to block cookies by activating browser settings that allow you to refuse automatically the placement of cookies. If you use your browser settings to block all cookies (including our strictly necessary cookies), you may not be able to access all or parts of our website.

Please note that we may set strictly necessary cookies without your consent.
