Maj. Gen. Brett Mousley retired from the Australian Regular Army in 2025 following a distinguished 35-year career.

Over the last decade, he held senior appointments, including Head of Intelligence Capability and Director General Intelligence. In these roles, he was responsible for the development and delivery of Defence intelligence capabilities, workforce and training requirements, while also leading the provision of intelligence support to the Chief of Joint Operations. Throughout his career, he held numerous positions in capability de-velopment and joint capability integration across the Department of Defence.

Mousley was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2025. He holds exten-sive postgraduate qualifications, including a Master of Management Studies (Capabil-ity Development and Acquisition) and a Master of Arts (Strategy and Management) from the University of New South Wales. He is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

He brings significant experience in strategic leadership, organisational reform, operational planning and capability development.
