About our Partnerships
At MITRE Australia we work with our expanding network of partners—government, industry, academia, and other not-for-profits — to solve critical problems spanning sectors, technologies, and nations. Our freedom from commercial conflicts of interest and focus on the public good facilitates side-by-side cooperation, even among entities that normally compete.
By working alongside the Australian government, research institutions and businesses, we can accelerate the public adoption of innovation and share our deep understanding of government with industry and academia to influence and accelerate dual-use solutions.
Our Australian partnerships bring coordinated expertise and diverse perspectives to our applied research, whether through focused teamwork on a single project or collaboration across sectors.
Centre for Information Integrity and Defence
In 2023, MITRE Australia launched its first international applied research centre, the Centre for Information Integrity and Defence, located in Adelaide. This research centre enables Australian partners to tap into decades of applied MITRE research. The centre acts as a conduit for Australian capability to be shared with the US Government and is currently engaging in collaborative research across the nation supporting AUKUS Pillar II capabilities aimed at uplifting Australia’s national security.
Australian Cyber Collaboration Centre
MITRE Australia is a proud partner of the Australian Cyber Collaboration Centre (Aus3C), a member driven not-for-profit organisation based alongside MITRE Australia at Lot Fourteen in Adelaide. We were one of the first international organisations to join the Aus3C.
Both MITRE Australia and the Aus3C are committed to building cyber capacity and securing Australia’s digital landscape. We achieve this by collaboration on training opportunities involving MITRE’s suite of cyber defender resources, with a focus on securing Australian critical infrastructure. This training partnership is supported by research efforts, including as a study into supply chain vulnerabilities in the energy sector (Securing the Smart Grid) which has been shared with state, national and global partners.
In March 2022 MITRE and the Aus3C were pleased to establish the Australian Insider Risk Centre of Excellence (AIR CoE) with founding partners DTEX Systems and McGrathNicol. The AIR CoE is built on three key pillars:
- Education and training: educational programs, ranging from comprehensive masterclasses to standalone training modules.
- Thought leadership: development and promotion of industry-leading insights and trends, industry-led seminars and conferences and collaboration within our insider risk Community of Practice.
- Research and development: collaborative research and development projects on both domestic and international scales.
As stated by the Chair of the Aus3C, Kim Scott, at its launch in 2020 – “Those bad guys who are attacking our networks are collaborating all the time, we need to match that level of collaboration on the good side. That’s what we’ll be doing here at the Aus3C.”
