Greg Bilton AO CSC

Lt. Gen. Greg Bilton retired from the Australian Defence Force (ADF) in August 2024 after more than 41 years of distinguished service in the Australian Army. During the last decade of his military career, he held a number of senior leadership appointments, including Deputy Commanding General, United States Army Pacific; Deputy Chief of Joint Operations; Forces Commander Australia; and Chief of Joint Operations.

As Chief of Joint Operations, Bilton was responsible for the planning and execution of ADF operations both domestically and internationally, as well as the conduct of major joint and multinational exercises. He is a graduate of the Royal Military College, Duntroon; the United States Command and General Staff College; and the Australian Centre for Defence Strategic Studies.

Bilton was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia and awarded the Commander of the United States Legion of Merit, among other honours for distinguished service. He brings extensive expertise in strategic leadership, organisational transformation, crisis response, and capability modernisation.

He currently serves as a Distinguished Adviser to the National Security College at The Australian National University and is a board member of Humanihut Pty Ltd and Disaster Relief Australia. He is also a Patron of Wounded Heroes Australia.
